Mr. Fitzgerald is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Section, where he specializes in prosecution and litigation of patents and trademarks, post grant proceedings before the USPTO, Intellectual Property Portfolio management, copyright, licensing and trade secret matters, concentrating on high technology matters in the fields of data and social network technologies, software and agile application development environments, mechanical, analytical, sustainable technology, biomedical, optical, e-commerce, computer, and material technology.
Before becoming an attorney, he worked for Dow Corning Corporation for twelve years in the areas of thin film deposition technology, surface physics and chemistry. After Dow Corning, he was Director, Worldwide Clinical Affairs for IOLAB Corporation, a Johnson and Johnson Company, for eight years. During this time, Mr. Fitzgerald authored a variety of publications in the areas of gas transmission of materials, contact and intraocular lens design and technology and clinical research. He is a co-inventor of U.S. Patent No. 4,198,131, entitled “Silicone Resin Optical Devices.”
Mr. Fitzgerald has over twenty years of experience counseling clients in many technologies, including internet and network technology, graphic display systems, user interfaces, computer software and hardware, mobile applications and hardware, digital electronics, green technologies, medical devices, biomedical equipment and systems, atomic force microscopy, aerospace, e-commerce, fiber optics, radio controlled equipment and toys, and exercise equipment. In addition to his legal and technical activities, Mr. Fitzgerald is an avid cyclist. .
